Recommendations for the application thickness of thistle plaster products can be found in our selector guides. Plaster may be applied thicker if lath is used. The thickness of mortar applied shall be a minimum of 20mm or three fourth of an inch. 15mm is single coat for external plastering and 18mm 20mm and 25mm is double coat for external plastering.

Wall and ceiling contractors should be aware of this and supply letters to protect themselves prior to proceeding with the application of plaster. 6 mm thick cement plaster is done on the rcc surface where it is required. Minimum thickness of 1 2 inch is suitable for wall studs on 16 inch centers but use 5 8 inch wallboard for 24 inch centers. In veneer plaster systems basecoat plasters are applied approximately 1 16 thick 9 basecoat plasters are supplied in two forms.

A slope of 1 300 is sufficient. The first detail clearly indicates 7 8 22 mm. Applying a coat of cement mortar will tackle the leaks but grouting is preferable. What thicknesses are plasters applied.

Undercoat plasters are usually applied at 11mm and most finish coat plasters are applied at 2mm. It is applied over two layers. This base is usually strips of wood or metal wire mesh both referred to as lath that are nailed to the wall and ceiling framing. The thickness of the layer of plaster on insulation can be 3 4 mm if it is high build façade or 7 9 mm thick front. One of the types of exterior walls is the so called wet plaster.

Recommended external plastering thickness is ranging between 15 mm to 25mm. The maximum thickness depends upon the depressions and the slope you desire to provide. When the plaster is applied it squeezes through the lath creating keys that harden to form a strong integral bond with the wall. Plaster is heavy and it needs a solid well anchored base to support its weight.
