In order for a roof parapet to provide adequate fall protection a roof parapet railing should be at least 42 in height. Hvac equipment will be further than 10 in from any exterior wall. Where the roof slopes toward a parapet at a slope greater than two units vertical in 12 units horizontal 16 7 percent slope the parapet shall extend to the same height as any portion of the roof within a fire separation distance where protection of wall openings is required but in no case shall the height be less than 30 inches 762 mm. In order to achieve the architectural design a parapet must be used so does this parapet have to be 30 high.

Again we are selecting a parapet for architectural reasons not fire so does the parapet wall have to be that high. There are several solutions to help you raise the height of your parapet that are cost effective and aesthetically pleasing. Accounting for roof penetrations when dealing with parapet walls the extra material needed to cover the vertical surface of the inside face of the parapet isn t the only added factor to take into consideration. Do not lap tpo over top of parapet unless required by unique construction conditions.

With it parapet walls are indicated automatically on the roof sketch as flattened panels similar to an unfolded pizza box. Height of roofing at wall. In conjunction with the repairs we want to increase the height of the parapets around 1 foot to 16 inches to better conceal some of the equipment on the roof.
